Best friends headed home after the East Central homecoming dance have been found dead after a one-car accident in Hurley.

Chloe Taylor and Baleigh Bowlin, both 16, were found in a wooded area north of the community on Highway 613 near Lum Reeves Road on Sunday. They both died of blunt force trauma.

Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. said the girls were southbound coming from George County when the accident occurred.

Family posted that the girls had gone missing early Sunday morning after leaving the homecoming celebration.

East Central High School posted a statement on social media:

“Please be in prayer today as we mourn the loss of two students. Please pray for guidance as we navigate these tragedies with our students, faculty, and community.”

Lynd said toxicology reports, standard in an accident, are pending.
